FANTASTIC NEW EVENT
Myself and Gareth spent the night in Glyncorrwg last weekend to catch up on a few bits of maintenance – and a few beers and popped down to the trailhead for a hangover fixing full-welsh breakfast. We were surprised to see the newly organsised Port Talbot Half Marathon in full swing.
Apparently it’s the first year of this brand new entry in the running calendar and there were 200 taking part already.
And what a fantastic route? RunBritain called it an “Exciting half marathon through the stunning Afan forest. Leave the beautiful surroundings of Glyncorrwg Ponds and follow the former railway route down the valley to Pontrhydyfen (birth place of Richard Burton). From here, you turn and follow the opposite side the valley to return to Glyncorrwg.”
Couldn’t agree more!
We’re only sorry we missed it, it would have cleared our fussy heads a treat! Mind you – we did run a nifty 8.5 miles up in the hills in the pouring rain the night before.
