There follows a brief description of the house, some rules and other useful info.  Further down the page, are descriptions of the layout and contents of each room so you can see your sleeping arrangements.

Introduction

Stay a night or more at our holiday home in Glyncorrwg for a perfect rural getaway.  Enjoy the private garden, barbeque and comfortable lounge while appreciating the gorgeous mountain views from the garden or up closer with a five minute walk. Located close to one of Europe’s finest mountain biking venues, great cross-country running routes, superb hiking, fishing and adventurous outdoor activities.  Not to mention the more sedate, swimming, parks, shopping, restaurants and the beautiful villages of South Wales. Wifi, flat screen TV, BBQ, fully equipped kitchen and full size washer and dryer. Maximum occupancy 10. Private walled garden for the perfect all-over tan.  Dogs welcome.

Security

We understand that your possessions are dear to you and this includes your bikes.  You will be pleased to know that the garage is protected by an alarm system that transmits photographs of any intruders to a mobile phone.

Numbers

This property can comfortably sleep 10 adults.  However, this would involve up to 3 people in the 2 bunk-rooms and a short queue for the bathroom.  If you value your home comforts and want no more than one or two in each bedroom you may wish to limit your numbers to 6.  If you’re up for a sporting or adventurous training weekend/week, then you should be fine with 10.  There are additional showers and bathrooms at the Mountain Bike centre – for a small charge.

Rent rates & other information

  • Prices start from £80 per night but vary according to number of persons and season.  Please use the prices page for a quote or contact us for a chat.
  • If you have any special or last minute requirements, let us know and will try to accommodate you.

Arrival and Departure Times

  • Check in time is 5:00pm and check out is normally at 11:00am  However, let us know if you prefer a different time and we will be flexible if possible.  You can’t always enjoy a holiday and relax if you have to work to a regimented schedule!

Single Night Stays

You are more than welcome to stay for a single night, although we would be surprised that you could come to such a beautiful place for such a short visit. However, a single night stay will be subject to a supplement and a minimum charge of at least £100. Please ask for a quote.

House Rules

  • No smoking indoors please.
  • Quiet Hours 10pm-8am – please respect our neighbours.  No wild parties!
  • Overnight guests strictly limited to those booked.
  • £100 security deposit may be requested.
  • Up to 2 well-behaved pets welcome subject to approval at time of booking.  Extra fees will be applied.  Downstairs only and not on furniture.

Family Friendly

On request, and free of charge, we will provide you with; 2 travel cots, a high chair and a dining booster seat.  If you do not need these, they will be stored out of your way.  There are lots of games, including darts, that are suitable for adults as well as children.

Mobile Phone Coverage

Some networks will work at the house but others are limited or unusable.  When we checked recently; Orange, T Mobile and 3 worked well, Talk Mobile struggled and O2 couldn’t find a signal in the house.  All these worked well up on the mountain!  We haven’t tested any other networks yet.

Ventilation / Dampness

As this is a very old house, it’s only way to breathe is through the windows. If you keep the windows closed 24/7, the rooms will get damp and potentially mouldy.  Sadly, the ‘cottage charm’ of an older property comes with a downside.  If you feel this would be a problem, then this house may not be what you are looking for.

Midges in Summer

Unfortunately, in the nice weather Glyncorrwg can be affected by midges.  You can get eaten alive unless you use some form of protection.   However, with precautions, we find people are able to get on and themselves.  We will advise you further after booking, but let us know if you need more info beforehand please.

Entrance Hallway

Boot-rack, mirror, coat hooks.

Lounge

Large screen TV, freeview, region-free DVD/CD  player, selection of DVDs, radio, selection of board games selection of books.   One double sofa bed, 2 seater and 3 seater sofas. Coffee tables, card table and chairs. Grandfather clock, WiFi (and USB) router –  reasonable usage included, please see full T&Cs.  Telephone – reasonable usage included, please see full T&Cs.

Dining Room

Dinning table and chairs for 8, highchair, booster seat.  Storage, wine-rack.

Kitchen

Gas oven and hooded-hob, microwave, toaster, 2 Kettles, crockery and cutlery for 10,  cookware, dishcloths, tea-towels.  Everything you need to cook – except the food, although we will make sure there are a few consumables around in case you forget anything.

Bathroom

Toilet, shower over bath, wash basin, multi-voltage shaving socket above mirror.

Garden

Patio, flower beds, garden chairs, brick-built barbecue. Smokers’ bin.

Large brick-built Barbecue

A large brick-built barbecue now ready in time for our great summer.
After a hard day’s exercise, you can now chill out with a few glasses of wine and enjoy a great barbecue in the warm evening afterglow.

Small portable barbecue, barbecue cooking utensils and accessories.

Master Bedroom

Double bed, double sofa bed, 2 travel cots, large built-in wardrobes.

Landing

Built-in wardrobe.  Spare bedding and towels.

Bedroom 2

Standard adult-size double bunk beds, 2 x camp beds, wardrobe, chest, bedside locker.

Bedroom 3

Military double bunk beds (standard length but slightly narrower than usual), three-quarter bed (slightly smaller than a normal double), wardrobe, chest and bedside locker.
